African Nova Scotian Music Association

ANSMA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the development, promotion and enhancement of African Nova Scotian music, locally, regionally and internationally.

Since September 2023, I have created event programs, sponsorship packages, brochures, social media posts, and table tents for this organization.

Design Brief:

The ANSMA committee needed an event program for the 25th Anniversary. They asked that the program that would provide attendees with all of the necessary event information, including:

  • Event schedule

  • Staff statements

  • Information about the company

  • Artist biographies

  • Award types & nominees

  • Paid advertising placement

  • Sponsor listings

Branding Guidelines:

This event program would serve as the public's first introduction to ANSMA's new branding. The package included a new visual identity which included the following:

  • A color palette

  • Typography for headings, subheadings & text

  • Visual graphic devices

  • New logo variations

Project Role:

As the graphic designer, I was responsible for formatting the text, images, and other assets I was provided with to align with the needs of the ANSMA committee.

Additionally, I formatted the final product for both digital and print, use, sending the file with the necessary specifications (color profile, dimensions, etc.) to the printing house. The following tools were used throughout the project development:

Event Graphics & Print Materials

For the 25th, 26th, and 27th Annual African Nova Scotian Music Awards, I designed a full suite of digital and print materials, working closely with the ANSMA team and coordinators to ensure every asset aligned with their updated branding package. I produced event programs, sponsorship materials, and social graphics, preparing all files for both print production and online distribution.

Key Takeaways

For the African Nova Scotian Music Association, I designed a cohesive set of print and digital materials, including a sponsorship package, event program, and promotional assets. These designs elevated the organization’s visual identity and strengthened its community presence. The goal was to create professional and engaging materials that reflected ANSMA’s mission to celebrate and support African Nova Scotian artists while appealing to potential sponsors and partners.

Developed a polished sponsorship package that helped ANSMA expand its network and raise over $50,000 in community and corporate sponsorships.

  • Attracted support from major partners including FACTOR, TD, Support for Culture, and the Black Opportunity Fund.

  • Elevated brand presentation through consistent typography, color, and layout across print and digital materials.

  • Contributed to a record sponsorship year and strengthened ANSMA’s ability to communicate its mission and attract long-term supporters.
